Statement to voters
Here is some background.
Full statement
I have had 10 years army experience, serving as Captain Owen-Burge and completing two tours of Afghanistan. I live in the district with my wife and two young children and have strong connections with West Sussex.
At home, I like to think of myself as a dedicated and hands-on dad. At work, I am a hard-working project manager with a focus on humanitarian support, so I really know how to get things done for people. As well as all that, I have had time to make a difference to others’ lives, from raising funds for local nature reserves and improving the local Girl Guides hut to campaigning for a ‘search and rescue’ team to provide essential equipment. I am proudest of speaking up for a local family with a disabled child facing eviction.
Now I want to take that same commitment to County Hall.
It’s vitally important to support our local businesses. Lower Street businesses, and all businesses locally are struggling with rising prices and the fiasco caused by the extended closure of the A29 at Church Hill in December 2022. The A29 was closed for too long, with WSCC so slow off the mark and Broomers Hill residents suffering intolerable rat-running. While at least the road is now open, WSCC has not come out of this smelling of roses locally. The impact of inaction has been widespread. If I’d been able to fight your corner, it could’ve been so different!
Pulborough, West Chiltington and all the local villages have so much to offer but businesses need a strong voice to speak up for each area’s differing needs and I am that voice! Things are tough for local people with rising prices, poor bus services, terrible roads and too many houses in the wrong places.
There’s a clear choice at this election. A vote for Reform, with their politics of division and anger - or you can choose a positive future by voting for me. I offer experience and a proven track record of speaking up. I am a strong voice you can trust. I love working hard to help people and to make a real difference to their lives!
