Statement to voters
Leon has lived in London for 24 years, including 12 years in Islington on the border of the Tollington and Finsbury Park wards.

His connection to the area goes back his whole life through his dad.
Leon is standing as a candidate because he believes his experience as a chartered structural engineer can make a positive difference for Islington. He is used to solving complex problems and wants to use that skill to make the most of the council’s limited budget and help make the borough a good place to live for everyone.
Leon believes decisions should not happen behind closed doors and that local people must be empowered. He supports participatory democracy, including participatory budgeting, so residents have a meaningful role in shaping their community.
Leon thinks the council should depend less on outsourcing for inspections, repairs and improvement works in council housing. Bringing more of this work in‑house would mean quicker, better‑quality repairs, improved living conditions for tenants and lower service charges for leaseholders.
Leon backs liveable neighbourhoods that reduce traffic and pollution, make streets safer and quieter, and open space for cycling, walking and community use. He has joined the local residents’ group to raise awareness and build support.
