Statement to voters
My name is Joe McIntosh, I am currently working in TV and Broadcasting as an audio visual engineer and am responsible for the successes of some of the largest live events and TV shows, predominantly in the UK but in some cases globally.
Full statement
Aside from this I am also a highly productive and highly skilled multimedia artist working in graphic design, photography, music and video. I like to see the bigger picture and I have a real passion for learning and gaining different creative skillsets.
I have lived in Bridge ward for the last 3 years, moving from the Midlands to work within the audio visual industry. Prior to this I had worked throughout the entirety of the UK’s National Testing Programme in the fight against Covid-19. It is here where I witnessed the complete incompetence of the Conservative Government and their inability to effectively and efficiently role out the appropriate measures to fight off the pandemic and support the public. It is also here where I witnessed how corrupt the whole testing programme was and how much of the taxpayers money was being well and truly wasted and sent to line the pockets of the Tory Government’s wealthy benefactors.
For most of my life I have worked on many different creative projects, primarily in music. Over recent years my artistic output has been heavily focused on covering more political themes such as capitalist exploitation, socio-political anxiety and general economic frustration. As an artist I have always strived to create work that critiques and questions the society we live in. I always wanted to make a difference to better the world and decided that getting more directly involved in politics might offer me the opportunity to help lead real change for the country and the community.
I had always thought politics wasn’t a place for people like me, a real working person, and was just a place for those of privilege. The Green Party gave me hope that we can fill Government positions with real people who can make real decisions and make real difference for the country. It felt like politics needed to change and I believe we can change this country for the better.
I want to see that the money in our councils is being used effectively and efficiently. I want to see our communities prosper through supporting the need for third spaces for people of all ages, races and genders. I want to see local economy prosper through supporting local independent businesses that choose to make Redbridge their home.
We have so many green spaces across all of Redbridge and in Bridge specifically we have Roding Valley Park with the River Roding running right through the ward. It is of high importance we work with local groups committed to protecting and improving our green spaces especially when we have one of the best green spaces in London right on our doorstep.
And finally for transport, I want to see that we push to fix the Broadmead Bridge. Across Redbridge this would so drastically improve public transport and relieve pressure on the roads allowing communities to once again be connected.
