Statement to voters

I live in Wanstead and am a parent at Snaresbrook Primary School.

Full statement

Over the past five years I have focused on raising my daughter, so much of my time is spent locally, especially at places like Christchurch Green after school and the library during the week. It has given me a real understanding of day-to-day life in the area.

I work as a tax adviser and accountant. I previously worked in the City of London in financial services as a tax specialist and auditor, including during the financial crisis, and later ran my own local accountancy practice supporting small businesses and individuals.

I have also been involved in community roles, including serving as Vice-Chair of the Little Ilford Safer Neighbourhood Ward Panel and as Treasurer of the Highgate Society, working with residents and organisations on local issues.

I am standing because I care about Wanstead and want to play a practical role in looking after it.

WHAT I STAND FOR

For me, it starts with protecting what makes Wanstead Village special.

The village feel matters. It’s what makes people want to live here and stay here, and it needs to be protected as the area changes.

Safer walking routes are a priority. Whether it’s children walking to school or families heading to the park, people should feel comfortable and safe. At the moment, speeding and poor road design make that harder than it should be.

We also need a stronger local economy, starting with Wanstead High Street. That means supporting independent businesses and making sure the high street remains somewhere people want to spend time, not just pass through.

At the same time, we need to take more pride in our local environment. Litter, anti-social behaviour and poorly maintained spaces affect how people feel about where they live.

Wanstead is a great place to live. I want to help protect what’s good about it while making practical improvements people will notice day to day.
