Statement to voters
My name is Rasan.
Full statement
I grew up in North London and now live in Laycock, working across local GP practices. I’m Kurdish, and my family came to Britain when I was a baby after fleeing conflict in the Middle East. That has shaped how I think about community, security, and the importance of feeling supported where you live. In my work, I spend a lot of time talking to people about their health, and you quickly see how often the same issues come up: housing, stress, money, isolation, and the environment around us. It’s a big part of why I care about local politics. Health isn’t just what happens in a clinic. It’s shaped by the conditions we live in.
I’m standing because I want an Islington where people can live well, with strong local services, decent housing, and communities that feel supported. I’ll back practical local action that improves health, fairness, and quality of life.
