Statement to voters
Simon has lived in Stretford, Greater Manchester with his partner for the past 15 years.
Full statement
He joined the Liberal Democrats in 2015. He stood for Trafford Council in 2016, 2018 and 2019. He stood for Parliament for the Wythenshawe & Sale East constituency at the 2019 general election.
He has been a key campaigner and organiser for Trafford Liberal Democrats over the past 5 years, and has advised councillors & campaigners across Greater Manchester.
He worked in the health and social care sector for 17 years from 2002-2019 and returned to the NHS frontline during the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. He now works for the Liberal Democrats.
Simon's family is from Cumbria, where he was also born. He moved down to St. Albans in the 1980s after his parents' divorce, taking his stepfather's surname after his mother remarried. He went to school in the area gaining GCSEs and A-Levels before attending university in Northampton. He also attended Manchester Metropolitan University to further his education between 2011 and 2013.
His priorities are:
- building a healthcare system fit for the 21st century in Greater Manchester - refocusing policing back into communities, with well funded youth services from local councils to help stem the tide and cycle of crime and disorder - a transport system that works for Greater Manchester not against it - a housing plan that puts people first, not developers.
"Let us rise up from the ashes of Covid & recession and rebuild Greater Manchester together"
