Statement to voters
About me
Hi! I live in Wensum, never done politics before so I'm stepping up to try and make a difference.Full statement
I have a keen interest in politics and I've always paid attention to environmental issues. I've leafleted Wensum Ward for the Green Party, chatted to residents about their concerns, and I was impressed with Zack Polanski’s politics so I joined the Green Party in 2025.
I came to Norwich in 1998 and have lived in Wensum Ward for 5 years. Now I have a family I’m far more aware of how essential local community is to all our lives. I’ve been widely involved in community projects over the years, from theatre to anti-fascist activism, and have recently become a volunteer at the Wensum Community Centre.
What I can bring?
I am a good organiser with experience coordinating groups of volunteers. For 10 years I worked in Film & TV production, I've also worked in museum and educational settings, utilising my arts and acting experience to engage students. My priorities as a city councillor for Wensum would be:
- Housing: I'm passionate about engaging with local residents to learn their needs and housing is often a top priority.
- Green spaces: keeping parks tidy and well maintained, but also the smaller spaces that we see and use every day - footpaths, hedges, grass verges. Fly tipping is a constant issue round here and much more needs to be done to deter the culprits.
- Wellbeing: I think talking to people who live near you is the best cure for nasty, divisive right wing politics. I want to support and develop resources like our community centres, where residents can come together to feel happy and safer.
I have ADHD; it's not a superpower, most days it makes my life difficult, but I'm an effective problem solver when I lock on to something (please bring snacks!)
Why vote for me?
I'm interested in what people care about and why. I'm ready to listen but I will speak up if I disagree and explain why. I think we owe it to one another to be honest - with others and with ourselves - which doesn't seem to be a very popular way of seeing things in many areas of politics but that's their problem, not mine!I'm not interested in political jostling or rivalries, inside of or between any political parties. I don't have all the answers, no one does, but I'm stepping up to this ready to work.
I think there is no difference between the environmental crises we face and the problem of growing wealth disparity and inequality - money is power and without power we can't change things. We need better democracy, we need to ignore the mudslinging, challenge the lies and bring people hope that real change can happen.
