Statement to voters

Tim may be known to some as a retired Ipswich Hospital Consultant who specialised in Complex Care for older people and steered his Department, as Clinical Director, through a period of change and challenge.

Full statement

Others will know Tim as a passionate advocate for the support and care of people with Parkinson's disease. He is also passionate about Community politics. Before moving to Ipswich, 26 years ago, he had the privilege of serving, as a Councillor, in a Lib Dem-run London Borough. The Council was passionate about community and green politics and Tim and his wife (Suffolk County Councillor and Ipswich Borough Councillor, Inga), learned so much from that experience. Tim served there, for four years, on Education and Social Services Committees bringing these experiences to his Health work at Ipswich Hospital and across East Suffolk. Tim's life and work, with Inga, in Ipswich, raising their family, serving Northgate PTA (where their two sons were educated) and serving for two very special years as Mayor's consort, allowed him to continue his passion for local service and grow his love for this Town and the people who live here. A few months ahead of his retirement, Tim returned to Councillorvservice when he was elected to serve as a Borough Councillor for St.Margaret's Ward, alongside wife, Inga, and Oliver Holmes. Giving value to our differences as well as the things we share, placing individual skills and needs at the centre of everything that Public services plan and do, and safeguarding the environment, are Tim's prescription for healthy families and communities. Tim believes that finding physical, mental and social solutions for people and families in need, by connecting together Education NHS Social and voluntary services, is the cheapest and most effective way to help people get back on their feet.
