Statement to voters

Dear Resident,
I am writing to you ahead of the district council elections on 3rd May 2018, where I am standing to be your next councillor in Rickmansworth.

I’ve lived in the area most of my life, growing up in Croxley Green and attending
Rickmansworth School. I want to live in a safe and pleasant area and I think it is important that the area is represented by someone who has grown up here. I am passionate about creating a sustainable community and preserving the special character of Rickmansworth.

I have already been working hard on supporting residents and putting pressure on the council. A new speed sign is going to be installed on Harefield Road following the Green Party’s petition and we have got the council to start testing air quality on the Uxbridge Road, revealing dangerous levels of pollution.

By listening to residents and following up on their concerns I have already helped to improve parts of Rickmansworth. I have reported potholes, dog fouling and overgrown bushes, and I have been pressuring the council to commit to tree re-planting after several street trees have been removed. I have also been listening to concerns about parking and development. I could do more if I was elected as your local councillor.

If elected, I would continue to live in the area and fulfil my duties as a councillor whilst commuting to London. I know that I am hardworking and proactive enough to go above and beyond with these responsibilities.

I am asking for your vote on 3rd May because -
● Unlike the other candidates, I am not told how to vote. I can therefore vote in the best interests of our area.
● I care about what happens here. I will stand with you to demand the right kind of
sustainable development and to protect green spaces.
● Some residents feel let down by the Conservatives and Lib Dems. I will hold them to account.

If you have any questions ahead of casting your vote, or would like to raise any local issues, then please do not hesitate to contact me on the details below.

Best wishes,
Tom Pashby
