Statement to voters
Martin Baxendale is Chair of the Development Control Committee.
Full statement
He was elected in 2014 to replace Green Councillor Molly Scott Cato after she was elected as MEP for the South West. One of Martin’s main priorities in office is to protect the Slad valley from inappropriate development.
Martin is committed to opposing plans for large-scale development on Baxters Fields.
"I run a small publishing company and am a proud grandfather to two lovely boys. I work hard on the Planning Committee and helped to protect the Slad Valley from large-scale development. I have been your District Councillor since 2014: it would be an honour to continue.
I successfully opposed plans to sell off the Subscription Rooms to the private sector, and persuaded Stroud District Council that it should stop investing in fossil fuels through its pension fund. I’m looking forward to what I can achieve next."
