Statement to voters

I have lived in Earley for almost 40 years.

Full statement

In that time, I have been helping residents on Earley Town Council and Wokingham Borough Council where I now lead the Conservative Group.

My record in our area includes securing investment and improvements for parks and leisure centres in Earley and Woodley, increasing investment in repairing and building new roads and improving cycleways and paths, and delivering sustainable numbers of new affordable homes. I am very active on social media helping resolve problems for local people and keeping them informed. I believe passionately in maximising opportunities for all and in the importance of providing the best education for children and young people. I understand how important Libraries are to young families and, as a councillor and executive member, I expanded the local library service by reducing the running costs to be able to increase opening hours.

I worked in IT and HR for British Airways for 39 years, starting as a graduate trainee and holding many senior roles including Group head of Information security, Head of people services and Head of Recruitment. I have an MBA and is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society. I am a voluntary trustee of a charity which looks after former employees and their families. During the COVID pandemic, I organised two international aid flights for national charities to send oxygen concentrators and masks to India where people were dying because of shortages.
