Statement to voters
For the last five years I’ve been the Derbyshire County Councillor for Whaley Bridge and Blackbrook.
Full statement
I have been a part of this community all my adult life and it’s been a huge privilege supporting wonderful local people, volunteers and businesses.
As a councillor, I’ve helped as many people and groups as I can, using my experience as a local accountant, a trade union officer and as High Peak‘s MP.
Hundreds of local people have asked me to stand as an independent candidate, and so I’ve decided to do this to give you the option to allow me to continue to support this area and people, building on what I’ve achieved.
Unlike political parties, my campaign is community-based. I am very grateful to the many local people who donated towards my leaflets and who will help me to deliver them.
As an Independent candidate, I will always put this area first, and I’m never afraid to speak up for local people.
I’m here to help and would love to continue to serve Whaley Bridge and Blackbrook. Ruth George.
