Statement to voters

I have lived in Henley for 25 years.

Full statement

I retired as Assistant Head Teacher at Gillotts School where I was teaching for 29 years. I am a governor of Badgemore School, on the committee of the Henley Show and a trustee of the Chiltern Children’s Centre. I am a member of Henley Bridge Rotary club which runs the Henley Half marathon raises £25,000 for local charities. I was elected as a town councillor in 2011 and in 2013/14 was enormously privileged to become Mayor of Henley on Thames. I was elected to get things done for Henley.

During my Mayoral year HRG made sure that the streets of Henley were steam cleaned 3 times a year, HRG organised that business waste was collected at 5pm in the evening so that Henley looks good in the evenings. As Mayor with Maggie Atkinson we started the Music on the Meadows, to provide a free music festival to showcase the brilliant talent of the young people of Henley. HRG refurbished the Mill Meadows toilets and put in a brand new fantastic toddler playground. Henley has the lowest town tax in south Oxfordshire and we now have planning permission for a new skate park on Makins recreation ground for all the young people of Henley. (All recreation facilities should have new toddler playgrounds).

HRG is independent of “National Parties and politics” and speaks as the independent VOICE FOR HENLEY. We are not influenced by national party stances. HRG (with others) secured the building of the new Townlands Hospital, provided the 60’s plus club and we have always put Henley first. Pollution in Henley is high and air quality low. HGV’s going through Henley contribute 40% of the pollution. HRG are at the forefront of the campaign to reduce HGV’s and improve air quality.

I believe in working hard for Henley and its residents. HRG has a superb record of achievement in the town. HRG will build the Skatepark, HRG will secure a local lettings policy for some of the new houses in Henley for local people and Key workers. HRG will rebuild a new club house for AFC Henley and the Hockey club. HRG will secure more frequent town buses. HRG is the party with great ideas for the future. Please vote for HRG-the Independent voice for Henley on Thames.
