Statement to voters

After an art education I moved to Lincoln with my family and ran a vintage clothes shop, long before it was fashionable.

Full statement

With friends I set up Lincoln Live Arts and my shop became a hub of the arts community, we went on to begin the Lincoln Arts Festival.

I have always worked for my community and have constantly organised events. In 1985 I moved with my family to Norwich becoming the Director of Norwich Arts Centre. Once again, I used my organisational and management skills to build a fantastic artistic community. I am proud of the many young people we helped through volunteering and part time work into full time paid work.

Bringing up three children I understand the demands and costs of family life and now a grandmother of seven I am aware of today’s pressures and dangers of technology but hope we can embrace these and give our children opportunities and a life to look forward to. This is why I work so hard for the Labour Party and ask you to elect me on the 7th May.

I moved to Dickleburgh in 2010 and visit Diss at least once a week, often more frequently. We are lucky to have community venues such as the Corm Hall and Market Place, plus a rail link direct to London and Norwich. I have many friends that live in Diss & Roydon and know the area well.

I believe in a community that works together for everyone. I am already leading a campaign to improve access at Diss Rail Station, arguing that we need platform lifts. I want to help improve local facilities, offering more opportunities for young people. Make sure our elderly are cared for. Make sure we can access doctors when we need them and have good dentistry services.

I will work with organisations and partners to make Diss & Roydon a good and happy place to live.
