Statement to voters
Over the past couple of years, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many local residents while working to improve our area and taking your concerns to the Council.
Full statement
Together, we’ve achieved a great deal. On 1st May there is an election to elect your local councillor. I am one of the candidates. I’m asking you to consider voting for me this time round. Here’s why:
1. I work hardest for Selattyn, Hengoed & Gobowen all year round.
I’ve asked what you think about local issues and what you’d like me to be working on. I have helped solve many individual problems and issues and raised awareness of wider-reaching things like road safety, fly tipping and changes to waste services. I have helped bring back Bonfire Night, Summer Fundays and Pantomimes. My regular newsletter has kept residents up to date with what’s happening. Of course, other candidates will doubtless appear now that there’s an election around the corner, but nobody wants a councillor who vanishes as soon as the election is over.
2. I know and understand our Area.
I have lived in Gobowen all my life and use the same roads, shops, and other services as you. From my year-round work, I know how people in our area think and what we all care about. Now I’d like to take this knowledge to Shirehall. Shropshire Council has taken our area for granted for a long time and are out of touch with what our community wants and needs. With my understanding and enthusiasm, I’ll work to get Selattyn, Hengoed & Gobowen back on the map, getting a better deal for us.
3. I could do even more as your Councillor.
As your local representative at Shropshire Council, I’d have a lot more influence and could achieve so much more. I’ve seen the difference great councillors can make in other parts of Shropshire. If elected, I would be part of a strong and experienced team of Green councillors. As your councillor, I’d be able to stand up for our area and get Selattyn, Hengoed & Gobowen the attention our area deserves.
