Statement to voters
🔸 Why vote for Matt Hall? Matt and his wife Anne are proud residents of Exmouth.
Full statement
Matt is a qualified planner and a local Town and District Councillor who believes in working for residents day in and day out. Anne grew up in Exmouth, is involved in local groups and is a District Councillor.
To Matt, being a Councillor is so much more than just turning up at election times, it’s about responding to residents promptly, walking the streets each day and being aware of issues and dealing with them as quickly as possible.
Matt is not a supporter of forcing housing on to Exmouth and the surrounding area without the much needed infrastructure. He recently opposed more housing being forced on Exmouth without accompanying infrastructure.
He even took time out to speak to a large group of residents last autumn about the proposed development near St John’s.
Matt cares deeply about this division and wants to make sure everyone is getting the best possible services for our local councils.
He is disappointed that our roads are full of holes, our children are struggling with getting help for their needs, our rural public transport is failing us, and our County Council is mismanaging and eroding our services – all while wasting our council tax.
Matt is a firm believer in working together to solve problems and support our community. Matt wants to see the County Council bring highways back under local control, eroding wasteful spending on private contractors.
He thinks the county council should be working with parents and local schools not fighting and fining them.
Matt believes County Hall should be working with the people they represent, our towns and parishes, and community groups to prioritise local services that genuinely matter – not making sweeping cuts without speaking to us.
When Matt sees a problem in our community, he does something about it, not just stand by and watch it happen. That’s why Matt is standing to be your new County Councillor.
That is the difference when residents elect someone with so much knowledge and experience, they get the service that they pay for.
In his spare time Matt can be found on his allotment off Hamilton Lane and is always happy to talk to people and help with their issues.
Matt hopes you’ll feel able to join residents across Exmouth, Lympstone, Woodbury, and villages in supporting him with your vote
