Stuart has lived in Coxhoe for over 20 years and has worked as a Civil Servant in Durham for 30 years.

Full statement

He was elected to Durham County Council in 2017. Stuart has served on the Environment, Economy and Highways Committees of Durham County Council and proposed the Climate Emergency Declaration to full Council in 2019. As a result every decision by DCC now includes consideration of the climate impact and in the last year alone, DCC’s carbon footprint reduced by 16%. Stuart has worked closely with Bowburn Community Centre, Coxhoe Village Hall and Hett Village Hall to secure improvements and a viable future.

Stuart has been a Coxhoe Parish Councillor for the last 20 years, holding the position of Chair since 2015. He has been a director of Active Life Centre in Coxhoe since it was threatened with closure nearly 10 years ago. He is a school governor at Bowburn and Coxhoe Primary Schools.

If re-elected, Stuart will seek to continue to support groups and projects across the whole area and will use his experience and dedication to tackle important issues facing our communities, and will make sure that all local residents voices are heard.
