Statement to voters

Serving for many years on Parish, District, and Cornwall Councils, I have always worked for the benefit of local people and Cornwall as a whole.

Full statement

I welcome the additional and exciting challenge of representing Porthleven.

I formerly lived in the harbour town, my daughter was born there and eldest son went to the local school. As the former leader of the Conservative group at County Hall, I have critically challenged the council to provide value for money for Council Taxpayers.

Funding for road safety is never far from my agenda. I have always had a close relationship with parish councils and continue to support organisations, schools, and local groups with grants from the community fund budget. I am passionate about helping our youngsters and local people get onto the housing ladder and successfully delivered local needs housing schemes. I maintain my commitment and enthusiasm to serve the people and seek election as a Cornwall Councillor in the newly formed division of Porthleven, Breage & Germoe.

Local Housing Needs
Local housing needs are never far from my agenda, my aim is the right houses in the right place for the right people. This has been successfully pursued and I have been involved in the provision of housing to help local people and families to find homes of their own locally.

Maintaining Public Services
We all rely on good services and I have worked hard to reinstate the bus service to Praa Sands, making a difference to those with no transport. Public conveniences, an essential requirement in our coastal areas. I will work even harder to ensure they stay opened and in good condition.

Highways Matter
Speeding traffic is a daily occurrence and I have provided measures to help fight this menace, including Vehicle Activated Signs and speed monitors to help reduce speeding. I consistently lobby the council for funding for better road maintenance and improvements to our local highways.
