I grew up in Whitley Bay and Monkseaton.

I returned after some years away and am delighted to have the opportunity to stand for election to represent my home town. I am retired, after working for over 20 years for Northumbria Police, in a number of civilian roles.
When I moved back to Whitley Bay, I was surprised at the poor state of many of our footpaths and indeed had a fall myself through tripping on a uneven paving stone. I'm an ordinary person and I care about the things ordinary people care about - the state of our streets, the quality and availability of a good education for all our children and ensuring we get good value for our council tax pounds.
Away from work and politics, I enjoy walking the dog, especially around Marden Quarry and I enjoy quizzes. My husband and I won the BBC TV quiz, Pointless, a couple of years ago. It was a lot of fun and we're very proud of our trophies.
