Statement to voters
Brasted, Chevening and Sundridge Neil Proudfoot Labour’s Sevenoaks District Council candidate for Brasted, Chevening and Sundridge Neil has lived in Westerham for the last 12 years prior to which he lived and worked in Orpington for some 20 years.
Full statement
He was a secondary teacher for over 40 years, initially teaching History holding various middle management roles and serving as Head of Sixth Form and as a Senior School Leader. Towards the end of his career he turned to specialist roles as a SEN tutor. He is married and, perhaps unsurprisingly, his wife Lynne is also a teacher!
During the latter two thirds of his service all in the London Borough of Bromley he was, and still is, a leading local officer in the teacher union the NASUWT holding the posts of Area Secretary (10 years), caseworker (20+ years) & subsequently Area Treasurer. He also has had two spells as a school governor.
On leaving teaching he became a Westerham town councillor serving for just short of 5 years, two of which he was Chair of the Highways and Lighting Committee. He has regularly stood as a Labour candidate in local elections, including the last County Council elections, for the Sevenoaks West which, please note, includes the Brasted, Chevening and Sundridge Ward. The Westerham and Crockham Hill Ward which he knows well faces many of the same issues and shares many of the same concerns
