Statement to voters

I am the local candidate for Stowmarket South in the Suffolk
County Council elections on 6 May.

Full statement

I have lived in Stowmarket
for 30 years and have served on the Town Council since 2013,
as well as the County Council since 2017.

Over the past four years, I have supported almost 50 local
organisations, charities and voluntary groups with grant
funding, including the High School, Local Citizens Advice,
RBL and Red Gables Volunteer Centre. I have also financed
highways schemes, including speed indicator devices to be
installed in Combs Lane, Needham Road and Onehouse Road.

My priorities are to retain Stowmarket’s tradition and culture
as our town grows, while ensuring sustainable economic
growth and development is properly targeted, delivered and
managed.

I want to make Stowmarket safer for us all. I will work to
protect and enhance our natural environment by building on
Suffolk County Council’s leading role in the green economy. I
will campaign for more support for elderly residents, especially
those with dementia. I will push for more facilities for our
young people and for them to have the work experience, skills
and training they need.

SCC has a strong track record of sound financial management.
It never has, nor will, make speculative investments. It targets
spending on services for residents. Suffolk Conservatives will
invest £14.5m in new, or upgraded, recycling centres, including
a new site for Stowmarket, which I want opened ASAP; and
£10m on improving pavements and footpaths.

If I can help in any way, do please contact me.
