Andy Crump's policies

Statement to voters

Having always lived in the area, Andy is a local person, who is reliable and works hard for the local community.

Full statement

He has been involved in local politics since 2007, having initially stood to make a difference to our local communities. He believes he has a strong track record for getting things done and caring about the area. He continually holds HS2 (which he has always opposed) to account His priorities are shown in his personal statement My credentials are as follows - have been a Stratford District Councillor for 13 years- past Chairman of Planning and current Chairman of Overview & Scrutiny (OSC) – he has fought successfully against unwanted development, as well as getting significant improvements/modifications to others. He acts as a conduit for local residents’ to the Police, who have been unable to get a response in other ways.
He is a reliable, local, experienced, active communicator and campaigner who has a track record for getting things done for Southam, Stockton & Napton
He believes that an effective councillor needs to regularly communicate with their residents.
He produces a weekly comprehensive update (plus others in between) that he has been doing for many years, that he publishes on many Facebook pages, sends to the town and parish councils in the ward as well as to those residents who request it to be emailed to them. He has been producing a monthly column in Stockton News for even longer.
He feels it is important that he regularly attends parish councils, Town Council and public meetings, so he can give and receive feedback and answer questions first hand. He also believes in the importance of him effectively representing the area at WCC (and SDC). His excellent attendance at both reflects that.
Always responding to concerns, he does so in a practical, realistic and pragmatic way, meaning that he doesn’t always say what people want to hear, nor raise expectations falsely, but will go out of his way to help wherever possible.
He became a Councillor to help local people, who need it the most (sick, vulnerable, people who struggle to access the internet etc.)_ and those who can’t help (or do things for) themselves. That still holds true today.
He continually holds HS2 to account, especially over road closures or vegetation removal and updates regularly about progress on the new Aldi store
