Your Conservative Candidate for the new Etwall & Findern Division in May’s Derbyshire County Council elections is Martyn Ford.

Martyn has served local residents as a County Councillor for many years and has a proven track record of getting things done. He will continue to push for the necessary upgrades and repairs to our highways and lobby the Labour Government to deliver on its promise to give more funding to local authorities to tackle potholes and road repairs, something that despite their claims they have not done.

Additionally, as your candidate Martyn wants to ensure the County Council provides high quality educational provision locally so that children have the best possible start in life. This includes ensuring that local schools including John Port Spencer Academy and our primary schools have sufficient places. He is incredibly disappointed that the Labour Government have halted plans to build two new schools in South Derbyshire which had been announced by the previous Government and Conservatives at Derbyshire County Council are committed to delivering on.

Martyn is opposed to excessive development in the area without the necessary infrastructure being in place and opposed the development of 2500 houses in Burnaston for this reason. He is also passionate about keeping Derbyshire together and ensuring our communities to do not end up being part of the City of Derby under local government reorganisation.
