Statement to voters
Ross was born and raised in the town of Shirebrook which is situated in the Bolsover District of Derbyshire and has two brothers and a sister.
Full statement
Ross first became involved in politics in February 2010 when he began working for South Normanton Parish Council at the age of 20 as part of an apprenticeship program by Bolsover District Council. In September 2012, South Normanton Parish Council offered Ross a promotion to become the Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer, which put him in charge of the day to day running of that local authority administering a budget of over £300,000. Ross was one of the youngest Parish Clerks in the country at the time.
Since then Ross has been committed to local communities and embraced community cohesion to improve the local area.
In January 2016, Ross became the first Chair of newly created North East Derbyshire & Bolsover District Liberal Democrats and has been the driving force of the Liberal Democrats in our local area.
Ross believes that evidence based politics should determine the future; and that, more than anything, politics should be relevant to and shaped around the needs of people.
With his heart firmly in our local community, Ross is keen to ensure that the needs of our local community are properly represented in Westminster.
