Statement to voters

Hilary Wendt has lived happily in South Shropshire for many years and has previously stood for the Green Party in the 2019 and 2017 General Elections and will again be our Green Party candidate in the newly named 'South Shropshire constituency' .

Full statement

She is the Coordinator of the South Shropshire Green Party and Deputy Coordinator for the West Midlands Regional Green Party.  She has a long career working in, developing, and managing innovative services and projects in the statutory and independent sector, principally in community mental health. This has given her a strong belief in the importance of securing human wellbeing on a thriving planet. She also has a strong vocation to work with, as well as for, individuals and communities and to make certain that every one is enfranchised in decisions that affect their lives - a natural fit for the Green Party. She says: "I am delighted to be the Green Party Prospective Parliamentary candidate in the so very beautiful and special South Shropshire constituency. So many people I speak to tell me how they feel let down by the other political parties and feel excited by what the Green Party stands for. Every Green vote is a vote for The Green Party's positive vision and practical policies to tackle the challenges we face - whether that's the cost of living crisis, which is also a crisis of inequality; the need to protect and improve our public services like the NHS; and the urgent action our country must take to address the Climate and Nature crisis on this fragile, shared planet.
