Statement to voters
I am standing for the Brympton Division of South Somerset District Council as I believe that too little is being done to revitalise our town as we recover from the covid pandemic.
A crucial factor in this is a lack of dependable public transport and I think that everyone in Yeovil and the surrounding area would benefit from a major improvement in the quality of local bus services. More frequent and affordable buses would be a boon to the elderly, the young and those with mobility issues and would also help to reduce traffic on Yeovil’s congested roads. This in turn would bring more business to the ailing town centre and give a much-needed boost to the local economy. Not to mention reduced noise and air pollution, which would benefit everyone. Zero emission buses would improve air quality immensely if they were a viable alternative to driving around town and this would be our ultimate goal in terms of local transport.
