Mark has lived in East Anglia since a young boy, going to school in nearby Ely.

He has been running a successful social enterprise business from Suffolk for 25 years to help and support charities and community organisations grow and develop their services. Mark served as councillor in Bury St Edmunds, including as Deputy Leader and driving forward the creation of a music venue (Apex), setting up the town's food bank with faith and voluntary groups, better recycling (brown and blue bins) and bringing safer cycling and pedestrian links. He served two terms on Suffolk County Council as the only Green in West Suffolk.
