Statement to voters

Greg has been a leading Lib Dem councillor on Newcastle City Council since 1998.

Full statement

He grew up and attended school in York before attending Newcastle University, and has lived on Tyneside since 1992. He has worked as external funding officer for a North East university, securing millions of pounds of EU funding for regional development projects in the region, and as a consultant in the planning and regeneration sector.

He has particular expertise relating to regeneration, economic development, housing, and transport, and has previously served as the Lib Dem group leader on the Tyne & Wear Integrated Transport Authority which oversaw the region’s public transport networks including bus and Metro, and as the Lib Dem lead on the LGA Urban Commission.

Greg was a Lib Dem parliamentary candidate at the 2001 and 2005 General Elections, and stood as the party’s candidate in the Sedgefield by-election in 2007. He has also acted as the party’s North East regional media co-ordinator and as a spokesman for the party on regional TV and radio.
