Rebecca Lury grew up in Harrow, and went to Watford Grammar School for Girls before studying history and politics at the University of Nottingham, where she first became active in the Labour Party.

Rebecca has been a councillor in Southwark since 2012, and is currently the Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure, Equalities and Communities at Southwark Council.
