Statement to voters

Mike is currently the Finance Portfolio Holder on Redditch Borough Council and was previously responsible for Leisure where he worked on projects like a brand-new playground and a fantastic open-air amphitheatre at the Arrow Valley Country Park.

Full statement

Mike has worked closely on the regeneration plans for Redditch, which will see over £15.6m invested in our town to enhance jobs and local prospects for our economy.

Mike is asking for your vote in the upcoming elections so he can work hard to deliver more for the residents of Church Hill and wider Redditch, so we can ensure our area remains a great and safe place to live, to work and to raise a family. Whether you live in the North or South of Church Hill, Mike is committed to representing your views to the best of his ability.

Mike's track record in Church Hill includes ensuring the development of the new private apartments in Church Hill Centre, delivering on a promise to deal with the derelict old doctor's surgery that blighted the area for years.

In addition to his council work, Mike is a founding part of the Support Redditch charity that delivered food parcels to families across Redditch during COVID-19 lockdowns and during his time as a volunteer has developed a keen enthusiasm for the community and voluntary sector and its fantastic work to support people and families in need.

Mike has lived in Redditch for over 10 years and is married with two daughters. Originally from Coventry, Mike moved to Redditch to raise a family noting its excellent green and open spaces and amenities whilst also retaining elements of urban life. Mike’s background is in software development, having self-taught coding to secure work in the mid-2000s. Mike’s father was a lorry driver, and his mother was a cleaner until she was struck with a life-changing illness that required Mike to become a young carer from the age of 9. Mike hopes he can bring his life experiences to the role of being a Councillor and make a difference for others facing disadvantages and barriers in their lives.
