Statement to voters
I have lived in the Turnham Green ward for almost 25 years, I believe that the only way for a councillor to represent their local community is for them to be part of the community and engage with the public to understand their issues, problems, hopes and aspirations. This involves more than simply attending surgeries waiting for issues to be presented, it means living in the community and actively engaging with the public, local agencies and community groups in order to build strong working relationships and develop a real sense of the issues in the wider borough and specifically within a ward. The only effective way to represent local residents is to be a resident, this allows for a free flow of views, ideas and issues in both directions.
I know that for the majority of people their interaction with government is at the local level and much of what affects their quality of life is also delivered at the local level, therefore I am determined that I will do everything possible to ensure that people get the quality of public service they deserve. Furthermore, I firmly believe everyone has the right to live and work in a safe, vibrant and pleasant environment and there is much local government can do to help build a better place in which to live and work.
If elected I promise to do my very best to represent the people of Chiswick and ensure that everything I do is in the best interests of all our residents.
