Statement to voters
I became involved with where I lived early in 2001 as a way to get to know my neighbours. Then in 2006 it widened out to the broader community and became a founding member of HUG (Ham United Group).
Since being elected in 2014 nothing has changed for me – I still have a great time volunteering and working alongside you. We have a wonderful, diverse community, both people and the environment. It is evident that we all have one thing in common, we love and care about where we live. Our challenge is to nurture our young residents and get them involved.
I have being championing cycling and been closely involved in upgrading the route from Ham Gate to Teddington Lock. Delighted that we are in the final stages of being able to deliver that with TfL. We have upgraded part of the tow path and several other routes.
I am also Lead Scrutiny Member for the Environment and presently working closely with the Cabinet Member to deliver a forward thinking strategy for Air Quality.
Given the challenges of day to day living it is ever more evident that elected officers work in partnership with the community. So let’s go for a positive change and prepare us for the exciting future whilst being respectful of our history and environment. Not everything will be possible, but no-one should have their concerns/ ideas pushed aside or dismissed out of hand. So let’s not say NO, let’s make things happen! I look forward to continuing volunteering & working with you and I would be humbled to represent HP&RR in Council again.
