Mike Davey has been selected as the Labour candidate for Petersfield in the City Council elections coming this May.

Mike has lived in Cambridge for the last ten years. He is a proud European, and is enthused by community politics, championing the voices of local people.

Whilst loving living in Cambridge, he recognises there is a huge disparity between those with money and those without. He is passionate about tackling poverty and particularly in addressing the issues faced by our young people.

He believes that the biggest challenge we face is Environmental be it in tackling climate change, or addressing congestion caused by motor vehicles, managing growth or protecting our green spaces.

He worked for the County Council from 1999 to 2013. A Director at the Authority, he working primarily with Children and Young People. Since leaving the Council he has been active in his local community, acting as Treasurer for Abbey People, a local Community Charity, Chair of Governors at Abbey Meadows Primary School and Chair of the Board at Centre 33, the charity for Young People based in Clarendon Street in the City.

He first joined the Labour Party over 40 years ago, and is currently Chair of the Constituency Party. He is married with three children the eldest two boys having left home, his daughter attends St Matthews Primary.
