Ross Archer was the Conservative and Unionist Party candidate in the constituency of Lewisham East in the UK Parliament elections. Our volunteers have been adding information on Ross Archer - here's everything we know so far!

Statement to voters

A Sydenham resident for over twenty years, Ross, was born in nearby Bermondsey before moving to Lewisham aged 7. Ross started school at what was then UK’s worse performing School, and it wasn't before he moved to Elliot Bank School in Forest Hill (aged 8) that he was taught to read. Due to this Ross knows all too well the importance of a good education.

By day Ross works as a Manager for a not-for-profit organisation, where he is Chair of the Employee Representative Board, effectively the in-house Trade Union. As a commuter Ross knows the state of the local railways and transport is not good enough. Ross welcomes the news such as longer trains and more investment and is a vocal supporter of not just extending the Bakerloo line to Lewisham but also to Catford and Lower Sydenham.

Ross is an active member of the community. He has been a School Governor and a Charity Trustee. He has also been involved in the Scouts and is Chair of a local independent Scout group. As someone who cares deeply about the community Ross is frustrated by the fly-tipping that blights parts of the borough and has led campaigns on the issue, such as petitioning against the local Labour Council's decision to end weekly bin collections.

Despite being a Crystal Palace supporter Ross helped the successful campaign against Labour's botched Millwall CPO. Ross wrote to the Mayor of London and Secretary of State for Local Government asking for the decision to be 'called in' and for links between Lewisham Council and the developer Renewal to be investigated.

Ross also led the campaign against Labour's plans to close Deptford and Catford Police stations.

Ross was Chairman of both Lewisham West & Penge Conservatives (2012-13) and later Lewisham Deptford Conservatives (2016-17).

This statement was added by Ross Archer, their team, or by a Democracy Club volunteer, based on information published by the candidate elsewhere.
