My children (now grown up) were both educated for 8 years at Southfield School, where I was active in the Parent Staff Association and as a parent governor.

I first joined the Ecology Party (as the Green Party was then known) in 1978. Although I’m pleased that many of its environmental policies have been adopted by other parties, only the Green Party will take the urgent action needed to prevent catastrophic climate change and to prepare for its consequences, including the extreme weather which we are already experiencing, food shortages, air pollution and the destruction of our environment and wildlife. At local level, we can conserve energy (such as through insulating homes), reduce fossil fuel use (by improving public transport and encouraging safe walking and cycling) and protect our natural resources.

I spent many years advising companies on employee share ownership. More recently, I have carried out postgraduate research into Climate Change Economics. I am a Director and Vice Chair of a Community Energy Society.

A vote for the Green Party is not wasted. It sends a strong message that we want to keep a world fit for our grandchildren to live in.
