Party manifesto
Martin Hey was the Green Party candidate. Find out more about their policies in the Green Party manifesto.
Statement to voters
Martin has lived in the Halifax area all his life, including 20 years in Hipperholme. He now lives at Northowram with his wife and two children. He retains a deep commitment to and affection for the area.
Martin says, ‘I am concerned that the nature of Hipperholme and Lightcliffe could soon change irreversibly, caused by excessive development and the associated increase in traffic levels.
‘I believe that Calderdale Council can take an alternative path, one that preserves the essential character of the area, whilst increasing transport options and the overall quality of housing”. That is why I’m standing for election in the ward.’
Martin’s Priorities:
• Protecting the environment – including the green belt and wildlife habitats - within the ward,
• Campaigning against urban sprawl, pollution and the ever increasing traffic jams in the area;
• Fighting for a fairer Election system;
• Ensuring the people in the ward have their voices heard on the council.
This statement was added by Martin Hey, their team, or by a Democracy Club volunteer, based on information published by the candidate elsewhere.
