Statement to voters

Dear voter,

Thank you to everyone for your positive feedback so far during our election campaign.

Full statement

It’s been great speaking to people from across the area, finding out what issues are important to you and what you want from a local councillor.

The last year has been fairly tough, but I have still been working hard to make a difference here in Craven Ward. I love our area, which has been my home for the last 26 years. In that time I have been involved in many community groups – I have been a parent governor at Silsden Primary School, I am co-ordinator of Plastic Free Silsden and I am part of the local Emergency Planning Group (which helped provide support across the ward during last year’s first covid lockdown) – to name just a few. I hope you think that my work has made a difference.

In 2019, I was proud to be elected to Silsden Town Council with the highest number of votes of any of the elected councillors.

I co-founded Silsden Campaign for the Countryside three years ago and I will continue to stand up for local people in opposing inappropriate housing developments on our green spaces. I will be a strong, independently minded voice for our area - and I will hold Bradford Council to account.

Many people tell me that the Green Party is the only party that regularly delivers newsletters to homes across our area. I believe it is important that a local councillor keeps local residents up to date with what they are doing and keeps them informed about issues that affect our area.

The choice at this election is clear. Things can carry on as they are, or you can vote for someone who has been working hard all year to prove themselves worthy to be your next councillor.

Please use your vote to elect me to Bradford Council on May 6th.

Yours sincerely

Caroline Whitaker Green Party candidate for Craven Ward. P.S. The last election was close with only a few hundred votes between the top four candidates. With your support this year I know I can win!
