Statement to voters

Councillor Asif Siddique:

By Profession I am a Leading Solicitor, also Barrister by education and Councillor by passion.

Full statement

I have lived in London over 20 years and made Hammersmith and Fulham my home with my wife, daughter and baby son. I am actively involved in helping the local community, small businesses and previously running one of the Neighbourhood watch schemes within the area. By profession I am a practising Leading Solicitor, also a Barrister by education in London and a Human rights activist with extensive experience in Immigration, Asylum, EU law, Family law and Housing. I am working with the collaboration of numerous mainstream charities, providing a FREE WILL writing service to all senior citizens in London. I speak multiple languages.

I am determined to keep our streets and parks safe and clean & green for all and improve cohesion within our multicultural community. I fought hard for the EU Remain campaign and Saving Charing Cross Hospital having 6 family members who are doctors living within the LBHF Borough and ardently believes in improving education and career skills for students which has inspired me to become a Labour Councillor candidate for a third time for the Local Government in London.

Since being elected as a Wendell Park Ward Councillor in 2022, I have worked fervently with the local residents leading on multiple projects including supporting the local residents in Wendell Park ward in their plight to stop the erection of a 20m tall 5G mast in our Ward. I facilitated two zebra crossings close to Wendell Park school for the local residents, improving the safety of our children and families/residents in the area. I am actively leading and supporting the residents of Pocklington Lodge (TPT) to retain their accommodation especially for the blind and partially sighted people.

I am involved in walking with the LET officers in our Wendell Park ward to promote safety and prevent anti-social behaviour and crime in our Ward. I was involved in the consultation process and co-production meetings regarding the roundabout road works, involving residents of Pocklington Lodge, John Betts House, cyclists and local resident associations with a finally agreed and improved busy roundabout scheme implemented.

As a councillor, I have 8 years experience dealing with housing issues especially those living in social housing, shared ownership and the private sector, like many renters living within the LBHF Borough. I have been a Coordinator in the Neighbour Hood Watch Scheme over the years, attending Panel meetings with the local Police and would strive to make Wendell Park ward a safer place. Currently the LBHF have 72 Law Enforcement Team (LET) officers who work proactively with us, the police and community to reduce the crime and anti-social behaviour.

I am the Lead Member for Support for Older People in LBHF and initiated the Silver Social Series Events to improve the well being of our older residents to tackle social isolation and loneliness. I also sit on the Housing and Homelessness Policy and Accountability Committee, Licensing Committee and Licensing sub-committee, previously sitting on the Audit and Pension Fund Committee and sub-committee, Planning and Development Committee and Children and Education PAC scrutinising the policies and work carried out for the best interest of the residents in the Borough.

I vow to continue to actively support the local residents, work with the Labour Group to tackle problems including housing, crime, anti-social behaviour, social care, private renting, public transport, Wendell Park, climate change, clean and green LBHF, accountability and fight against austerity. I have years of experience as a local resident, campaigner and Councillor and know the problems affecting the local community because I am approachable, friendly and aim to serve the community which is my passion.

With your support, I can make meaningful and progressive change in Wendell Park ward. Please let me be your voice to help you.
