Following his retirement from industry, he joined the NHS and worked for the Cancer Networks in East Anglia. He was part author of a guide for Carers of Cancer Patients published by a Major Cancer Charity. Mike was a supporter on the Hospice Movement both locally and Nationally. He was a member of the Patient and Public Involvement Forum for Suffolk Mental Health Trust. Through his involvement with the NHS and the Voluntary Sector, Mike is aware of the needs of families in getting quick access to services and will work tirelessly with the local NHS to achieve this goal. Mike who was widowed in 2004, has two daughters who both live in Ipswich, and two grandchildren who attend local schools. “As a Grandad of school age children I am aware of the dangers of speeding traffic and unsafe parking in the school safety zones and the roads in Ipswich in general. I will work with the police and schools to make access to schools safer.” “Many of the roads in Chantry are in a very poor states with many pot holes, particularly Hawthorn Drive. There has been a deterioration over the last twelve months with no repair work being carried out. I will press the County Council to repair these roads before next winter”. In November 2017, Mike was diagnosed wit type 2 diabetes and with the help of the NHS and “One Life Suffolk” he has lost 30 kilos in weight and is now in remission from Diabetes. Please feel free to contact Mike YOUR PRIORITIES ARE MY PRIORITIES ROAD SAFETY AND SPEEDING Speeding in our community puts lives at risk. The state of the roads with dangerous pot holes also puts lives at risk. We will work with the County Council and Tim Passmore, the Police and Crime Commissioner to make roads safer for the residents. We will push for long overdue road repairs in the area. SUPPORTING THE NHS IN IPSWICH Mike’s connection with the NHS means that he understands what families need from their local health services. He will arrange to meet with local NHS Representatives including the Patient Participation Group at Hawthorn Drive Surgery to urge that local residents have the best access to health facilities. UNSAFE PARKING Mike is concerned at the level of unsafe parking in Ipswich. The main problems are parking within the School Safety Zones, close to road junctions and parking on pavements and grass verges. He will work with the Police to crack down on antisocial parking and get double yellow lies at Junctions and close to schools.
