Statement to voters

"Darren Heaps is the Labour Party candidate for Whitton at the Borough Council election on Thursday 2nd May 2019.

Darren is married with an 8 year old son and his family has lived in North West Ipswich since moving to the area in August 2001. He joined the Labour Party in 2015, a few months before the General Election and has been an active campaigner through General Elections, Suffolk County Council and Ipswich Borough Council Elections.

He has worked in several jobs in his time in Ipswich and currently works for Tesco. Darren previously worked in the public sector arranging care for adults across Suffolk, he later moved to work for an independent healthcare provider.

Darren is passionate about the NHS and Social Care and is keen to not only to protect public services but improve them to a higher standard.

At a local level, Darren supports a Northern Bypass, backs the redevelopment of Broomhill Pool and seeks to improve social housing, public transport and road infrastructure in North West Ipswich.

Darren is proud of the changes made in economic development in Ipswich in recent years and would welcome the opportunity to help in delivering further improvements for local businesses and to help young people achieve their aspirations through further education, training and employment opportunities.

Darren holds a degree in Business Administration and Management and is keen to put his skills to work as your Borough Councillor. He is a good communicator, great listener, hard working and approachable.

"I enjoy meeting people face to face on the doorstep and taking time to discuss the issues important to them. North West Ipswich is great community to be a part of and I hope to have your support on 2nd May and I will make sure the views of Whitton residents are heard in the Town Hall."
