Statement to voters
My family has lived in Harrogate since 1970 when my father became Vicar of Christ Church. I have been through Junior and Secondary education in the town and I am therefore familiar with many of the issues within the district.
I am a qualified teacher and taught at several local schools. I was a Headteacher for eleven years and in education for twenty eight I then worked for two charities for two years. I stood for the Liberal Democrats in the Nidd Gorge in the 2017 North Yorkshire County elections where I came third out of eight candidates.
I am an active member of the Green Liberal Democrats and am passionate about the Nidd Gorge for environmental, educational and recreational purposes. I live just off the Skipton Road and am well aware of the traffic congestion and am an advocate for improvements to public transport to ease the situation and reduce pollution. On a national level I am very concerned about global warming.
I am asking for you to support me in the May elections and promise to work hard on your behalf.
I have a great deal of local knowledge and history. I was a keen rugby player in my youth and enjoy walking in the local Harrogate area.
Hopefully on 3rd May you will support me so that you can have a strong, compassionate local voice on the Council.
