Full statement
Since being elected in 2022, he has built a strong reputation for visible local action, holding Trafford Council to account, and getting things done.
As Shadow Executive Member for Climate Change, Community and Safety, Dr Zhi focuses on the issues residents care about most: fixing roads and potholes, saving Rose Cottage, improving community safety, local school places for local children, protecting parish councils and making sure Bowdon gets the attention and a fair share of capital investment it deserves.
Dr Zhi believes politics should be about service, delivery, and accountability. He is known for working hard on behalf of residents, speaking up when Bowdon is ignored, and pushing the council for practical solutions to local problems.
Outside politics, Dr Zhi is a respected leader in the UK energy sector, with a distinguished career in nuclear, hydrogen, carbon capture and industrial decarbonisation. He is a Visiting Professor of the Royal Academy of Engineering and a Fellow of both the Institution of Engineering and Technology and the Nuclear Institute.
Dr Zhi is also widely recognised for his contribution to community life and public service. He has raised tens of thousands of pounds for charitable causes and was awarded the UK Prime Minister’s Points of Light Award in recognition of his service.
Cllr Dr Shengke Zhi is committed to protecting Bowdon, supporting local families, and delivering the strong representation residents deserve.
