Statement to voters
Hi Bowdon residents,
I am writing to introduce myself as Dr Shengke Zhi, your Conservative candidate for Bowdon Ward in the upcoming 2023 Local Election.
Full statement
As a resident of Bowdon, I am passionate about making our local area a better place for everyone.
Bowdon is a fantastic area with outstanding schools, green spaces, and a friendly community. I believe that it is the best place in the country to raise a family, which is why I chose to live here with my own young family. However, I also believe that there is much we can do to improve our community even further.
As someone who lives locally, I share your priorities and am committed to addressing the issues that matter most to you. Firstly, I want to ensure that council services such as road maintenance and bin collection remain accessible and reliable. Our roads are some of the worst in Greater Manchester, and despite the Labour-run council receiving additional funding for repairs, they still need significant improvement. As your councillor, I have tracking records of preparing our roads, such as Bow Lane, a session on Oldfield Road, Winton Road and many other roads. I will carry on being committed to fixing potholes and ensuring that our roads are safe and well-maintained.
Secondly, as a parent of a child who attends a local school, I understand the importance of education to our children and our society. However, our schools are oversubscribed, and many children are being denied a local school place. We have some of the best schools in the country, and I am fully committed to supporting children to go to a local school.
I am also committed to tackling crime and improving safety in our community. We are seeing an increase in burglary, car theft, speeding, and anti-social behaviour, and I believe that we need more police on patrol to address these issues. I will work closely with the GMP Altrincham to implement measures such as CCTV and a neighbourhood watch scheme in Bowdon Ward to reduce crime rates.
Finally, I want to ensure that our environment is protected, and I will do all I can to preserve the Jubilee Community Centre which is currently under threat. Many community groups use the centre, which provides our residents with access to resources that contribute to their health and well-being. Additionally, many school students deserve a bright and clean community centre to practise dancing and do activities.
There are many other issues that I am passionate about, and I believe that I will be able to do more as your councillor. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am always happy to discuss how we can make our area a better place to live.
Thank you for your time, and I hope to have your support in the upcoming election.
Sincerely, Dr Shengke Zhi
