Statement to voters
My name is Steven Adams and I’ve lived in Hampstead all my life, as have my grandparents, parents, children.
Full statement
My children and I all attended school here. I wanted to make a difference in our community so I’ve been a governor of the major Frognal Independent School for the last 5 years.
For 35 years I have been a practicing architect with my firm based in Belsize Park. Combined with being Chair of a Conservation Area Advisory Committee, I will ensure that all planning and construction proposals are safe and well-communicated to our community.
As a previous Councillor for Belsize Ward, I achieved many successes assisting residents. In 2022 I championed local initiatives such as the Belsize Streatery and helped residents resist misguided transport proposals made by Camden Council. I worked together with Council Housing groups to fight off unpopular planning applications and sat on the Licencing and Housing Scrutiny Committees to protect our environment. My position on the Council was always firm in support of residents. I am committed to driving progress, creating improvement, and understanding the background of all local issues.
I fully understand the machinations of local authority planning, development, and transport design. Residents need their Councillors to be aware of city-wide and national policies that affect our community. Along with Cllr Andrew Parkinson we will defend Frognal against the distant and uncaring camden Town Hall.
While I am not religious, I am entirely supportive of other peoples’ beliefs and appreciate different cultures. My Conservative values align with aspiration, self-sufficiency, and supporting other people. This is why I have been connected with charities for most of my life and raised money cycling in over 25 countries around the world.
My aim has always been to promote sensible Conservative values and show others that our Party is effective, kind, and competent in government.
With all this in mind, I look forward to working together and standing as your Conservative candidate for Frognal Ward.
