Statement to voters
I am fairly new to Hastings and to the Green Party, and I settled upon both for the very same reason: community. To me, community means a safe and healthy space, a sharing of resources, a place where each person is valued as an individual and as part of the whole. I love the sense of community down here and, as a passionate environmentalist, am ready to stand up and protect it.
The Green Party plans to push for Hastings Old Town to achieve UNESCO World Heritage status; a bold and positive move. It will ensure any development proposals (such as the current Marina proposal) are sympathetic, sustainable and ethical: not another block of unaffordable luxury flats. It would benefit the local economy and ensure our community gets the support it deserves for generations to come.
