Chris Whitrow was the Green Party candidate in Tressell in the Hastings local election. Our volunteers have been adding information on Chris Whitrow - here's everything we know so far!

Statement to voters

I've lived on the West Hill in Hastings for over 2 years and I love the town and its people with a passion. Prior to that I was a university research fellow and now I work freelance. We're lucky to live in such a beautiful place, with so many talented, friendly people and so much going on, although some things could always be better.

Everyone complains about dog mess, fly tipping and litter, especially where I live and it annoys me too, so I'm determined the council needs to do more on this, as well as recycling more waste. I am also committed to opposing the disastrous plan for a high rise concrete marina complex at Rock a Nore.

I've always been a campaigner for social justice too, having been part of UK Uncut, protesting against tax avoidance and needless austerity. Hastings desperately needs better quality and more affordable housing for local people, not more holiday homes. I also want our streets to be safer for walkers and cyclists, so I support the introduction of more 20mph zones for residential areas.

This statement was added by Chris Whitrow, their team, or by a Democracy Club volunteer, based on information published by the candidate elsewhere.
