All elections have been postponed.
The government has passed legislation to postpone all elections until 6 May 2021.
Statement to voters
I spent 26 years in the Army serving my country, and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) in recognition of ‘going beyond the call of duty’, and would now like to be given the chance to serve and represent you to the same standard, serving the residents of Blenheim Park Ward, putting their views and dealing with any concerns.
Following my time in the army I was employed as a School Business Manager/ Bursar for 9 years.
Local elections are about local issues, and local people and I believe that they should be free of political party involvement. I currently serve as a Leigh Town Councillor where there is no party political involvement and we as Councillors work together for and on behalf of the residents we represent.
I am standing as an Independent Councillor to enable me to serve YOU without the constraints of national party guidelines or local party policies, which will allow me to represent ALL the residents of Blenheim Park, irrespective of their political views
I stood in last year’s election because I felt politically homeless in the political climate, and was disillusioned with our local politicians and the bureaucrats treating us with contempt and not listening or respecting our views. I wanted real democracy and felt it was time for me as an ordinary local resident to do something about the issues that are happening within our town and be able to make a difference, that is why I am standing for Blenheim Park Ward and Southend-on-Sea.
Funding is available for Blenheim Park which can be used for the benefit of the Ward and on community projects. This has not been accessed by the current elected party Councillors. It appears to me that they seem to be representing themselves or their party rather than YOU. This is not what I want, and I want to devote all my time and energy into maintaining and improving the Ward and the town. I will, through working with residents, always make sure Blenheim Park Ward is not forgotten.
I have the time to commit fully to the role and I live locally and share your frustrations.
• To ensure the views and the interests of the local people are represented within the council
• To promote the interests of local people and communities
• To make decisions based on developing the well-being of local residents
• To be held to account by the communities and local residents
• To use my previous 9 years experience as a School Business Manager/Bursar to scrutinise and ensure public finances are used wisely and honestly
• To act with honesty, integrity and accountability
