Statement to voters

"I am so thrilled that 12 years after we set up Trafford Green Party we have now gained two very dedicated and hardworking Green Councillors, who are already making a difference across the borough. I believe that Green does change everything and that we all have to do what we can at every different level of society to urgently tackle the crisis facing our planet. If elected, I would look forward to working alongside Green colleagues and listen-ing to local residents and groups to determine what my priorities would be. I do want:

>To retain as much of our precious greenbelt as possible, as we did as part of the suc-cessful campaign to save Turn Moss.
> To fight for developments in Stretford which serve our local community and are in tune with its history.
> To look at ways of promoting more affordable housing
> To plan better facilities for pedestrians and cyclists
> Andd urgently to find out how we can support those with nowhere to turn to, when in crisis, often as a result of government cuts.

Although currently retired from paid work, I am heavily involved with activities in my local park and volunteer occasionally for Stretford Public Hall, as well as for my weekly grand-parent duties!!! I helped set up Friends of Longford Park in 2000 and am still a committee member and the co-ordinator of the Community Allotment. Over the last year, I have also become involved with Stretford in Bloom, which is working to improve our environment across Stretford. I am committed to helping to make our community better for all and for the future."
