Christine is a local community champion who has previously served as an elected Councillor for eight years and stood for Belvedere Ward at the last local elections.

She is passionate about improving services for the vulnerable, supporting local charities and working to keep our streets safe.

Christine is campaigning hard to oppose the Labour Government's nasty and mean cut to the Winter Fuel Payment, which could affect around 2,000 residents in Belvedere. She's supporting the Council's efforts to secure improvements to public transport including the extension of the DLR and Elizabeth Line and Thameslink services stopping at Belvedere, and the Council's investments in improvements to the environment, street cleaning and strong action on flytipping.

Christine knows how important it is for people to feel safe and will work with the police to re-establish a local policing panel so residents can have their voices heard and set priorities to combat crime and anti-social behaviour.

For too long Belvedere has been let down by Labour Councillors who have taken the area for granted and a Labour MP who backs the early release of criminals, cuts to winter fuel payments and higher taxes.

At this by election, the people of Belvedere can elect a strong local champion who will stand up for them, put their interests first and work to make Belvedere Even Better. Vote Christine Bishop on 17 October.
