Statement to voters
I’m standing to serve as a local councillor because I care deeply about Harrow and the public services that hold our community together.
Full statement
I’ve lived in Harrow for many years and, like so many local families, we rely on our public services every day – our children go to local schools, we swim in local pools, and we enjoy Harrow’s parks and green spaces. When these services work well, they change lives. When they don’t, it’s our young people and most vulnerable residents who feel it first.
For over 26 years, I’ve worked in local state schools as a social sciences teacher, and as Shadow Portfolio Holder for Children and Education Services I’ve brought that frontline experience directly into local politics. I’ve seen first-hand the pressures facing families, schools and young people – and I know how much difference early support, well-funded services and joined-up thinking can make.
Alongside my professional life, I’ve always been active in our community, campaigning for safer streets, better public spaces and opportunities for young people. I believe local politics should be about listening, standing up for residents, and making sure decisions are driven by fairness and evidence – not ideology or short-term fixes.
I’m proud to be part of a Labour team that believes in investing in public services, backing communities, and making Harrow a place where everyone can thrive. That’s why I want to continue serving – to be a strong, experienced voice for our community and to help deliver the future Harrow deserves.
