I served Darton as a GP and worked in Leeds and New Hall Prison. Work with ordinary people as well as prisoners, refugees and homeless people has given me insight into the needs of our community. Now that I have hung up my stethoscope, I still want to be involved in working for the common good.
As well as politics, I have a wife and family, and do voluntary work with disabled young people at home and abroad.

Statement
Barnsley is a great town with a proud history. In order to thrive now we need to improve education and training, work opportunities, travel networks, and our environment. Carbon emissions and pollution are a big issue for us and we need to play our part in cleaning up the environment and protecting the fantastic natural resources we have. I will continue to work to make this happen.
